Exploring Careers in Turnaround
📍 Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University
📅 Tuesday, November 18, 2025 | 5:30–8:30 PM
The Upstate New York Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is proud to partner once again with Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management for an evening of networking and career exploration focused on the dynamic world of corporate restructuring and turnaround.
The evening will begin with networking over food and refreshments (5:30–6:30 PM), followed by a panel discussion (6:30–7:15 PM) featuring top professionals in the turnaround and restructuring field. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from practitioners about their career paths, challenges, and insights into the industry. A second networking session will follow (7:15–8:30 PM), giving students and guests a chance to engage with panelists, professionals, and peers.
Moderator
Prof. Ken Walsleben, Syracuse University
Panelists
Jeff Sands, Managing Director, Dorset Partners
Cristine O’Keefe, Commercial Debt Advisor, IMPACT Strategic Funding
Eddie Doherty, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo Capital Finance
Charles Sullivan, Senior Counsel, Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC
This event provides students with a unique window into the turnaround profession—what it takes to enter the field, how deals unfold, and what skills are most valuable. Discussion topics will include career paths, best practices, managing client demands, and advice for breaking into the industry from different professional backgrounds (finance, law, operations, consulting).
📚 Thanks to last year’s event, the funds raised allowed us to provide every student in the course with a copy of Jeff Sands’ book Corporate Turnaround Artistry. This year, your support continues to help equip the next generation of turnaround professionals with the tools they need to succeed and ensures the strength of our industry’s future.
