David Duffus is a highly accomplished forensic accountant with over 25 years of expertise spanning diverse industries. Renowned for his impactful contributions, he has been engaged as an expert on over 100 occasions, showcasing his unparalleled proficiency.
David's extensive experience includes more than 90 testimonies as an expert in depositions, trials, and alternative dispute settings. He has played a pivotal role in cases involving disputed values reaching up to $275 million and project values exceeding $300 million. Additionally, he has served as an arbitrator and neutral accountant in post-acquisition and valuation-related disputes.
Since 1992, David has specialized in complex litigation services, forensic accounting, and valuation services for businesses ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Throughout his career, he has collaborated closely with legal counsel across all phases of the litigation process, offering expert witness and deposition testimony in state and federal courts, as well as alternative dispute settings.
Before joining HKA, David spent nearly 17 years at Baker Tilly, where he ascended to partner in the Global Forensics & Litigation Services practice. His expertise extends to quantifying damages in complex commercial disputes, encompassing intellectual property infringement, breach of contract, tortious interference, product liability, fraud, and breaches of restrictive covenants.
David's impact goes beyond damages and valuation work. He has conducted forensic accounting analyses related to financial reporting issues, internal investigations into employee misconduct, stakeholder disputes, and project failures. A certified public accountant (CPA) licensed in Pennsylvania, David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Turnaround Management Association. He also serves as an instructor for the AICPA expert witness training program and holds certifications in financial forensics (CFF), certified fraud examiner (CFE), accredited in business valuation (ABV), and holds a master's in accounting and finance, along with a degree in economics and political science.
